Rigging the balloon

Once at the launch spot, the pilot gives instructions to the passengers. The crew members take the balloon and its components out of the trailer.

There are an envelope bag, a bag with the uprights, an inflation fan, a basket, gas cylinders and the instruments which will be used by the pilot.

First, the basket will be prepared. The next steps will be followed

the basket will be provided with the necessary cylinders;

After that, the uprights will be placed on top of  the basket;

on the uprights the burner will be placed;

the burner will be attached to the basket with cables and carbines, the conducts of the burner will be connected to the cylinders, and the conducts and cables will be provided with a fabric, this because of the safety during the landing;

the burners will be tested to see if there might be any problems;

the instruments which will be used by the pilot will be installed on the basket

The basket is ready. Now we have to make the balloon ready.

The basket will be laid down and the jeep will be placed behind the basket.
The basket will be fastened with a quick-release on the jeep to prevent the basket from slipping away;

the bottom part will be taken out of the envelope bag, the cables will be fixed on the burner frame;

after the cables are fixed, the balloon will be taken completely out of the bag;

the envelope bag will be folded up and fixed on the basket;

the inflation fan will be placed in front of the mouth. There will be blown cold air into the balloon;

at the back of the balloon the parachute will be stuck;

when the balloon is bulgy enough, we could poke up the balloon

a crew member holds the crown cord, so the balloon can gradually come straight up.

When the balloon stands straight, the crew members (and also bystanders) will be asked to hold the basket;

when the pilot says ‘let go’, everybody has to go away from the basket, and the quick-release will be unhooked;

the crewmembers take everything away: the uprights bag, inflation fan, quick-release, … and they leave the site as they have found it.
